What powers does the LINk have

The LINk Cannot:

  • Raise issues and concerns about childrens Social Care
  • Support people to raise a specific, individual complaint with Health and/or Social Care

If you have an individual complaint about Health and/or Social Care Services the LINk would signpost you to either the relevant Patient Advice and Liaison or Complaints Service

The LINk can:

  • Raise issues with the Local NHS and Local Authority – asking health and social care commissioners and providors for information about services and the LINK can expect a response within 20 days
  • Refer issues and concerns to the Health and Community Care and Housing Select Committee for them to scrutinise
  • Refer issues and concerns to the Care Quality Commission – the national body responsible for inspecting all Health and Social Care Services
  • Enter specific services and view the care provided to get more information about an issue raised in relation to that service. Services examined in this way could include hopsital wards, GP surgeries, Care Homes

The LINk is currently seeking representatives to sit on its behalf on the following Boards and Committees:

  • North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) – LINk Representative to attend one meeting to discuss revamping NBT’s ward feedback cards
  • South Gloucestershire Independent Advisory Group

The LINk has representatives who sit on the following strategic boards, committees and groups locally:

  • Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust LINk Stakeholder Group
  • North Bristol Trust Patient Experience Group
  • NHS South Gloucestershire Improving Patient Experience Committee
  • Great Western Ambulance Trust Joint Working Group
  • North Bristol Trust Patient and Public Involvement and Communications Group
  • Thornbury Hospital Steering Group
  • Breast Care Review
  • Cossham Hospital Stakeholder Group
  • Frenchay Project Board
  • Pathology Review Lay Reference Group
  • The Review of Gynaecological Services Group
